Initial Consultation ~1 ½ - 2 hours
A comprehensive consultation that includes a thorough health history of you and your baby, including pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding, health issues that may affect breastfeeding, and your current concerns; an observation of a feeding and help with latching and positioning as needed to improve comfort and efficiency; assessing your baby’s weight and milk transfer during our session using a high resolution neonatal scale; physical assessment of you (breast anatomy) and your baby (oral anatomy); education on milk production and infant feeding cues, development, and behavior, as well as addressing your questions; an individualized care plan with supporting resources to help you meet your goals; professional reports to your health care providers; a “superbill” receipt to submit to insurance for possible reimbursement; and follow up phone calls and emails.
Follow-up Consultation ~1 hour
A visit to evaluate ongoing or related challenges,
track progress, and update your care plan as needed.
Prenatal Consultation & Education ~1 hour
An assessment of any anticipatory concerns related to breastfeeding, review of any challenges related to previous breastfeeding experiences if applicable, and education and resources to help get breastfeeding off to a great start.
